No Perfect Marriage

Apr 24, 2022    Pastor Denny Curran

We are talking all about marriage in this series! Marriage doesn’t have to be perfect to be wonderful. In this week's message, Pastor Denny breaks down 3 different ways that can help us to create and cultivate a healthy, beneficial marriage.

1.) A personal relationship with Christ

The closer you get to God, the closer you get to each other.

2.) Pursue on another.

“Then the Lord God made a woman from the rib he had taken out of the man, and he brought her to the man. The man said, “This is now bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh;
she shall be called ‘woman, for she was taken out of man.” That is why a man leaves his father and mother and is united to his wife, and they become one flesh.” - Genesis 2:22-24 (NIV)

“I follow close behind you, protected by your strong right arm.” - Psalm 63:8 (TLB)

3.) Pray with one another.

“So Joshua fought the Amalekites as Moses had ordered, and Moses, Aaron and Hur went to the top of the hill. As long as Moses held up his hands, the Israelites were winning, but whenever he lowered his hands, the Amalekites were winning. When Moses’ hands grew tired, they took a stone and put it under him and he sat on it. Aaron and Hur held his hands up—one on one side, one on the other—so that his hands remained steady till sunset. So Joshua overcame the Amalekite army with the sword.” - Exodus 17:10-13 (NIV)

As long as Moses was praying, he was winning.

“Again, truly I tell you that if two of you on earth agree about anything they ask for, it will be done for them by my Father in heaven. For where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them.” - Matthew 18:19 - 20

“Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people.” - Ephesians 6:10 - 12, 16 - 18 (NIV)
