Peace is a Path

The plot of every Hallmark movie is about a career woman who is too busy for love but she has to move to a small town where a handsome local bachelor teaches her about the true spirit of the holiday. It starts snowing and they kiss. There is also a dog.

As we enter the Christmas season, the most wonderful time of the year, which is supposed to be the most peaceful time, can often be the most stressful time We want everything to be a Hallmark movie, where everything is perfect. It's easy to feel like we need perfection for us to experience any peace or joy. The Christmas season will offer you everything you need right now to experience God‘s perfect peace.

The Christmas story tells us of the birth of Jesus. Mary and Joseph had an odd love story. There was a wicked king, a corrupt government, Jew haters, and they were forced to do some unreasonable things and pay high taxes. They delivered their son in a stable surrounded by barn animals. Where was their Hallmark story?

2.) Peace is a Path

"To give his people the knowledge of salvation through the forgiveness of their sins, because of the tender mercy of our God, by which the rising sun will come to us from heaven to shine on those living in darkness and in the shadow of death, to guide our feet into the path of peace." - Luke 1:77-79 (NIV)

In life, we are not walking a path TO peace, we're walking a path OF peace. Two small letters make a huge difference. Peace is the path we're on right now. Stop searching for it and start walking in it, because with Jesus, we have everything we need right here right now to be at peace.
