Let it Rain

Jul 12, 2020    Pastor Denny Curran    Acts 2:17 - 20, Holy Spirit, #rain

"In the last days, God says, I will pour out my Spirit on all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your young men will see visions, your old men will dream dreams. Even on my servants, both men and women, I will pour out my Spirit in those days, and they will prophesy. I will show wonders in the heaven above and signs on the earth below, blood and fire and billows of smoke. The sun will be turned to darkness
and the moon to blood before the coming of the great and glorious day of the Lord."

We are in unprecedented times. People today are facing stress and anger because of our uncertain times! In these times, we are reminded that God promised help, a comforter. He promised strength. God promised faith to conquer. He promises the Holy Spirit. He offers His power!

In Acts, we read of five times where people were filled with the Holy Spirit. Each time, it shows us that not only did something happen in them, but also an external manifestation occurred. They began speaking in tongues.
1.) Acts 2:4 NIV
2.) Acts 10:44-46 NIV
3.) Acts 19:1-2 NIV
4.) Acts 8:12 NIV
5.) Acts 9:17-18 NIV

These scriptures prove that God has a gift for you! When you receive that gift, you will speak in a language you didn’t previously learn. This gift will empower you to do things you couldn’t do, say things you never thought you’d say, go places you'd never plan to go without Him. It empowers us to speak boldly and walk confidently. If you want to speak supernaturally, you must pray supernaturally.

What must we do to receive this gift? Acts 2:37-38 says this, “Brothers, what shall we do?” Peter replied, “Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit."

We want to challenge and encourage you to read the book of Acts! Dedicate time this week to prayer! Expect God to move and work in your life as you begin to seek the gift He has for you.
