Vision Weekend
We get ready for the future by.....
1.) Recognizing what God is doing
“That’s plain enough, isn’t it? You’re no longer wandering exiles. This kingdom of faith is now your home country. You’re no longer strangers or outsiders. You belong here, with as much right to the name Christian as anyone. God is building a home. He’s using us all—irrespective of how we got here—in what he is building. Ephesians 2:19 (MSG)
- We have not been built on the talent of a few, but on the sacrifices of many.
“You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.” - Matthew 5:14 - 16 (NIV)
2.) By Living with Faith-Filled Expectancy
“Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us,” - Ephesians 3:20 (NIV)
“Consequently, faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word about Christ.” - Romans 10:17 (NIV)
3.) By Doing All We Can Do Now
- Our actions will determine what we will see God do.
a.) We are getting ready for the future when we pray.
‘Call to me and I will answer you and show you great and unsearchable things you do not know.’ - Jeremiah 33:3 (NIV)
b.) We get ready for the future when we serve.
c.) We get ready for the future when we give.
“And everyone who has left houses or brothers or sisters or father or mother or wife or children or fields for my sake will receive a hundred times as much and will inherit eternal life.” - Matthew 19:29 (NIV)
4.) By Spiritually Consecrating Ourselves Today
- Consecrate: prepare, purify, dedicate, sanctify, wholly dedicate
- Sanctify - separate from something to be holy
“Joshua told the people, “Consecrate yourselves, for tomorrow the Lord will do amazing things among you.” - Joshua 3:5 (NIV)
