When God Works
1.) God Works All Around.
“Now the birth of Jesus Christ took place in this way. When his mother Mary had been betrothed to Joseph, before they came together she was found to be with child from the Holy Spirit.” - Luke 1:18 (ESV)
God doesn’t always work in a way we would expect - and the Christmas story proves that. The Christmas story reminds us that God is working in a way you may not understand,
“But as he considered these things, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, “Joseph, son of David, do not fear to take Mary as your wife, for that which is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit.” - Matthew 1:20 (ESV)
His silence is not a sign of His absence. His delays are not a sign of denial. We don’t know how long it was between the time Mary told him and the angel appeared to him, but it was enough time for him to wrestle with the situation.
“But as he considered these things, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, “Joseph, son of David, do not fear to take Mary as your wife, for that which is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit. She will bear a son, and you shall call his name Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins.” - Matthew 1:20-21 (ESV)
2.) God Wants To Be With Us.
“All this took place to fulfill what the Lord had spoken by the prophet: “Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and they shall call his name Immanuel” - Matthew 1:22-23 (ESV)
